Children & Young People Counselling
(£40.00 per session)
I understand how hard life can be for you sometimes and how issues can affect you, especially around things like ‘fitting in’, sexuality, social media, exams, anxiety, low moods, relationships, self harm, self esteem, suicidal thoughts, body image and relationships. This can leave you feeling lost or alone, which can impact how you think and feel about yourself and others.
One of the other most common issues I hear about, is that you feel you are not ‘allowed’ to make your own choices without an adults ‘say so’. This can create a lot of problems within relationships with family or friends, also at school with teachers. You can find yourself starting to either withdraw or having arguments with others, leading to feelings of frustration. This is really common at home with parents and other family members, as this is where it can feel safest to let your feelings out. I realise in some situations the root of your issues can be with family members, which then can affect how you engage with the world.
I can offer you a safe space to talk to me about your worries, concerns and troubles. It is also helping you ‘unpick’ and ‘make sense’ of things that is ‘going on’ for you. We will look at building your confidence and self esteem. You will start to ‘work out’ for yourself what makes you feel stressed, angry or anxious. My aim is to support you to create a ‘toolbox’ of ways on how to improve how you deal with problems in your life and find better ways of expressing yourself.
I offer weekly and fortnightly sessions lasting 50 minutes each for as long as you need them. The sessions are designed to your needs and I will not inform anyone outside of the service about the things we talk about. The only time I will tell anyone anything that you say, is when you want me to, or if there is a risk of danger to you or someone else. I will always make sure that you know what is ‘going on’ every step of the way and I will not do anything that is ‘behind your back’.
I can also support you having a session with a parent or guardian if you would like me to, which would be planned out before this took place. I will ‘check things out’ with you in the sessions to make sure you are getting what you need and to ‘keep track’ of where you are at.
If you would like any further information or you are unsure about how I could support you, please feel free to give me a call or if you prefer drop me an email.
