At TLC Counselling and Coaching Service –

I adopt a psychological approach by using specific models to support you finding your own answers and meeting your emotional and practical life goals.

TLC Approach

Down to earth, with a genuine care of others well-being.  It is important that my clients feel emotionally safe and not judged when working with me. I believe I have an understanding of how difficult it can be when we go through tough times and how painful and isolating this can be.

How It Works

What I offer

At TLC Counselling, I understand the importance of receiving a one-to-one or couple personalised service.  I shall walk you step by step through the counselling journey from start to finish, ensuring you know what to expect from the support I can offer you.

I will make contact with you to arrange a time to meet with you to have an initial consultation. When we meet for the initial consultation, the aim of this session is to gather some information by asking you some questions such as, "What you see as the main problems you are experiencing?”, “What is worrying you the most?” And “What you would like to achieve from the sessions?”. If it is identified that I am not the right specialist for you, I will advise you of other appropriate agencies or services that you could access that may be more suitable.

Once you have agreed that you would like to go ahead with the counselling sessions, we will arrange a convent time for you to meet with me for 50 minutes per session, on the same day and time each week.

What is counselling?

Counselling is a type of ‘talking therapy’ that allows you to talk about your problems and feelings in a confidential and dependable environment. I will offer you a dedicated space to listen to you with empathy and I will not judge you in any way. I can help to support you deal with any negative thoughts and feelings that you may be experiencing in your life. Sometimes, the term 'counselling' is used to refer to ‘talking therapies’ in general, but counselling is also a specific type of therapy in its own right.

  • Short term counselling - usually lasting between 6-12 sessions, often helpful for you to explore immediate difficulties and help you alleviate the symptoms of issues such as low mood or anxiety.

  • Longer term counselling - is carried out on an open-ended basis and the number of sessions will be mutually determined between you and I. Longer term therapy is often useful for prolonged or more deeply ingrained difficulties such as trauma or loss. However longer term therapy can also be useful for you to gain a deeper awareness/transformation of long standing issues, such as those relating to family dynamics, historical events or personality.

This can vary depending on each service and stage of the process, see each relevant page for more detailed information.
